The Civil War

 
 • In this unit, students will learn how specific people, places and events, led the U.S. to the Civil War and affected it's outcome. 
  • Starting with analyzing how the nation tried, but failed, to deal with the growing sectional differences, including slavery. 
  •It will study how the Emancipation Proclamation dramatically altered the nature or the war, the lives of African Americans, and the future of the United States.   
  •Students will investigate the military advantages of the North and the South and show how this affected the war's outcome.  
  •Throughout the unit, key people and battles will be examined. 
•Knowledge will be demonstrated through using historically correct facts in completing the lessons.
  •Upon completion of this unit, the students will have a thorough historical understanding  of the Civil War, which will be assessed through a unit test.
